Legal Notice

This handbook is an integral part of the employee contract for all staff members at Louisville Beauty Academy. By accepting employment, each employee acknowledges and agrees to adhere to the policies outlined herein. Key Policies & Employment Terms

Equal Opportunity Employment

Louisville Beauty Academy is an equal-opportunity employer, ensuring that hiring, promotions, and all employment decisions are based on merit, qualifications, and business needs, without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, disability, or any other protected category.

Workplace Expectations

Employees are expected to maintain professionalism, punctuality, and adherence to sanitation and safety protocols, as required by the Kentucky State Board of Cosmetology.

Sanitation & Safety: Employees must ensure proper hygiene, workstation cleanliness, and client safety at all times. Handwashing is mandatory before and after all services, and students must be guided to do the same.

Confidentiality & Privacy: All student and client information must remain strictly confidential, and any breach may result in disciplinary action.

Social Media Policy: Employees must represent the academy professionally on social platforms and must not engage in any negative or defamatory remarks about the institution, students, or staff.

Compensation & Benefits

Payroll is processed bi-weekly, with all deductions in accordance with state and federal laws.

Eligibility for benefits (health insurance, tuition assistance, paid leave, etc.) is based on employment classification and outlined in individual employee contracts.

Salaried employees receive paid holidays and state emergency closures (e.g., snow days), whereas hourly employees do not receive paid leave unless otherwise specified in their contract.

Performance & Growth

Performance is measured by student and graduate success, with periodic performance reviews conducted to assess contributions to student education.

Continuous education is mandatory for licensed beauty instructors, and all employees are encouraged to pursue professional development.

Workplace Safety & Operational Procedures

All employees must follow strict sanitation, hygiene, and safety procedures as enforced by state licensing regulations.

Facility maintenance is a shared responsibility—employees must ensure workstations, tools, and common areas remain clean and properly sanitized.

Client services are secondary to student education, meaning students are not required to serve clients unless they choose to do so as part of their hands-on training.

Leave Policies

Leave eligibility is determined by employment status (hourly vs. salaried) and outlined in the employee’s contract.

Salaried employees receive paid holidays and emergency closure days, while hourly employees do not receive paid leave unless stated otherwise in their employment agreement.

✔ Employees must submit vacation requests at least two weeks in advance for approval based on staffing needs.

Sick leave must be reported immediately, and a doctor’s note may be required for extended absences.

Termination & Resignation

✔ Louisville Beauty Academy is an at-will employer, meaning employment may be terminated at any time, with or without cause, notice, or explanation, at the discretion of the academy.

✔ Employees who wish to resign must provide at least two weeks’ written notice and return all academy property before departure.

✔ Employees who fail to meet performance expectations, violate policies, or engage in misconduct may be subject to disciplinary action, including immediate termination.
