Practice Until Competent: LBA’s Safety, Sanitation, and Verified-Credit Standard

Louisville Beauty Academy teaches for demonstrated competency—and builds proof worthy of every student’s work. Founded in Louisville in 2016, LBA has spent a decade strengthening a student-centered approach that connects instruction, supervised practice, safety, sanitation, instructor verification, educational credit, and durable school records. This is the record discipline of a nationally recognized, Louisville-built beauty college.

We teach with care. We practice with purpose. We verify with discipline. We award credit with proof.

LBA’s gold standard: clear expectations, verified credit

LBA’s practical-learning standard connects teaching, supervised practice, evaluation, safety, sanitation, attendance, educational credit, and record preservation. OnlineSMART supports LBA’s official student-information, clock-hour, and cumulative transcript reporting, while the applicable school records preserve the evidence behind credited work.

The public deserves a clear standard. Student-specific records, internal configurations, audit details, and controlled source materials remain protected and are shared only through an authorized process.

Use the LBA Practical Safety Verification Template

This reusable, undated, three-page public-reference template defines LBA’s practical completion, safety, sanitation, grading, and recordkeeping standard. After evaluation, an authorized instructor links this exact template to the student and task completion entry in OnlineSMART when every applicable standard is satisfied and an awarded PASS is recorded.

Record boundary: The template supports a student-specific awarded-PASS completion record; it is not evidence by itself and does not independently record ordinary practice attempts, attendance or clock hours, or required clinic-patron service activity. The exact PDF should be retained with the linked OnlineSMART record. Student-specific records and editable source materials remain controlled by LBA.

The LBA proof chain

1

Teach

Explain and demonstrate the required curriculum, including safety and sanitation.

2

Practice

Coach the student through supervised repetition until the skill is ready for evaluation.

3

Verify

An instructor evaluates the skill and confirms the applicable requirements are satisfied.

4

Credit

After all applicable standards are met, the instructor awards and records the practical PASS in OnlineSMART. LBA uses 80 as its standard numeric PASS indicator.

5

Preserve

Retain the student-specific OnlineSMART completion entry with its reference to the applicable standards template.

What “credited and approved work” means at LBA

Credit requires demonstrated competency

  • The practical skill is successfully completed.
  • Safety and sanitation requirements are satisfied.
  • The work is completed under appropriate instructor supervision.
  • The student and instructor are covered by the applicable attendance record.
  • The instructor verifies the evaluation before credit is awarded.

The record must remain understandable

  • Which student completed the competency.
  • What skill or service was credited.
  • When it occurred and who verified it.
  • How it connects to the required curriculum.
  • Whether it also aligns with current licensing-exam preparation.

Practice is human. Credit is verified.

What LBA records as an awarded PASS: Students receive instructor supervision, evaluation, coaching, and repeated practice. Those activities do not automatically earn a practical grade or competency credit. LBA records an awarded PASS in OnlineSMART only after the instructor determines that the identified task meets every applicable technical, safety, and sanitation standard and marks it complete. The completion entry references the template defining the standards verified. Competency may be demonstrated on a mannequin or an eligible live model or clinic patron, as appropriate for the task and program. A clinic-patron service record documents that a service occurred; it does not itself establish a passing grade. Practice without an awarded PASS receives no completion entry in this competency register. This distinction does not eliminate applicable practical-work or clinic-patron recordkeeping obligations, and competency credit remains separate from instructional clock hours.

Learning often requires correction and repetition. LBA students receive coaching and opportunities to practice until the applicable competency is successfully demonstrated and instructor verified. Credited completion reflects verified achievement; supporting school records preserve the instructional context.

Clinic services, attendance, enrollment, curriculum, examinations, and credited practical work remain connected record categories, each maintained according to its purpose.

Safety and sanitation are essential to every practical lesson. Every credited practical competency at LBA combines technical execution with the applicable safety and sanitation requirements.

Full curriculum, strengthened by exam readiness

LBA teaches the full curriculum required by Kentucky law and regulation. That full curriculum remains the foundation, with current licensing-exam preparation supporting it. Where a credited practical also aligns with a current licensing-exam competency, LBA may identify that alignment. Work beyond the required curriculum and current exam preparation is identified separately as LBA enrichment and becomes required when another governing school commitment establishes that status.

Why this standard matters

For students

Progress is connected to demonstrated skill and clear evidence. Repetition is treated as learning, and credited achievement is supported by instructor verification.

For families and employers

The record distinguishes participation from verified completion and makes LBA’s safety-first expectations visible.

For instructors

The model provides a consistent sequence: teach, coach, evaluate, verify, and credit.

For public trust

LBA’s public language matches its proof principle: claims should be traceable to records, and records should be understandable.

A decade of progress, stated accurately. LBA’s institutional operation dates to 2016. The current reusable template applies when linked to an awarded OnlineSMART PASS completion; it does not rewrite historical records. Historical records are evaluated from the evidence and standards applicable to their own time.

Public-source foundation

This page presents LBA’s own educational-credit and documentation standard, grounded in the official public sources below.

Last reviewed by Louisville Beauty Academy: October 15, 2026. “Gold standard” describes LBA’s own institutional standard; it is not a Kentucky Board designation, legal opinion, external ranking, or guarantee of regulator acceptance. Official requirements and examination materials can change, so current controlling sources should always be checked.
