Withdrawal, Dismissal, Completion, Closure: Four Triggers for Beauty-School Hour Certification

Direct sources. Clear status. Practical public information.

Kentucky’s current beauty-school administration rule names four events that trigger digital certification of a student’s completed hours: withdrawal, dismissal, completion, or closure of the school. The same section also describes a separate monthly certification cadence for students who remain enrolled. Those are different records, with different dates and questions.

The four-trigger map

Observed event Record question What it does not prove by itself
Withdrawal What date did the student withdraw, and what completed-hour total is being certified? Transfer acceptance, refund result, examination eligibility, or licensure.
Dismissal What school-controlled record establishes the effective date and certified total? That every contract, appeal, refund, or aid issue is resolved.
Completion What program and hour total are certified at the completion event? Examination passage, occupational license, employment, or earnings.
School closure Which affected student records, totals, certification dates, and custody questions are preserved? That every student has transferred, graduated, received a refund, or reached another outcome.

Section 19 of the current 201 KAR 12:082 text states that schools forward digital certification of completed hours within ten business days of any of those four events. It also states that, by the tenth day of each month, a licensed school submits each enrolled student’s prior-month hours and accumulated total. This article reports the public rule structure; it does not decide a particular student’s facts.

Keep five fields together

  1. Student/program identity: preserve the minimum school-controlled identity needed for the official record; do not publish it.
  2. Trigger and effective date: withdrawal, dismissal, completion, or closure—with the evidence pointer that controls the date.
  3. Certified total: the completed-hour total and the record period it covers.
  4. Submission evidence: submitting owner, date, receiving status or receipt when available, and correction history.
  5. Separate outcome fields: transfer, refund, aid, exam, license, and employment remain independent questions.

Monthly report versus event certification

A monthly report is a recurring status record for an enrolled student. An event certification is triggered by a change in status or school closure. Do not let the presence of one be used as proof that the other occurred, was accepted, or resolved every related issue.

Reader-controlled verification card

  • Which exact event occurred, and what source establishes the date?
  • What program and completed-hour total are covered?
  • Is the record a monthly submission or an event-triggered certification?
  • What receiving evidence exists, and who owns any correction?
  • Which separate transfer, refund, aid, exam, licensure, or employment question remains open?

Human stop point

Pause when the effective date, hour total, student identity, program, submission status, or correction authority is disputed or missing. Consult the responsible school, the Kentucky Board of Cosmetology, and qualified advisers for the reader’s actual facts before relying on the record.
