🌟 Our Admissions Philosophy
Louisville Beauty Academy (LBA) exists to provide accessible, transparent, and lawful pathways into licensed beauty professions. Our admissions process is designed to be clear, fair, and supportive, while fully aligned with Kentucky State Board of Cosmetology regulations and applicable education standards.
LBA maintains non-discriminatory admissions and enrollment practices. The Academy does not discriminate on the basis of sex, age, race, color, religion, ethnic origin, disability, nationality, or veteran status in admissions, instruction, or graduation.
✅ General Eligibility Requirements
To be admitted to Louisville Beauty Academy, each applicant must meet all applicable requirements below.
🔹 Minimum Age Requirement
- Applicants must meet the minimum age required by Kentucky law for enrollment in a licensed beauty program.
🔹 Education Requirement (One Required)
Applicants must provide one of the following:
- High School Diploma
- GED Certificate
- Official High School Transcript
- State-Certified Home-School Completion Documentation
If Education Documentation Is Not Available
In the absence of the documents listed above, an applicant may qualify by:
- Successfully passing an approved Ability-to-Benefit (ATB) Test, administered by an authorized independent testing provider
OR - Completing 6 credit hours or 225 clock hours at an eligible postsecondary institution, in accordance with applicable guidelines
📄 Required Enrollment Documentation
All admitted students must submit the following prior to enrollment:
- Completed Enrollment Application
- Proof of Secondary Education (as listed above)
- Government-Issued Photo Identification (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (for identity verification and official records)
- Passport-Style Photograph (clear headshot, plain background)

👩🏫 Instructor Training Program (Additional Requirement)
Applicants enrolling in an Instructor Training Program must also:
- Hold a current, valid professional license in the discipline they intend to teach
- Complete all Instructor-In-Training documentation required by the Kentucky State Board of Cosmetology
🔁 Transfers, Agreements & Special Circumstances
- Applicants enrolling under a training agreement, transfer arrangement, or external partnership must meet all Louisville Beauty Academy admissions requirements, in addition to any conditions outlined in their agreement.
- Transfer hours and eligibility are evaluated case-by-case in compliance with state regulations.
🏛 State Licensing & Attendance Compliance
- Louisville Beauty Academy programs are Kentucky State-Licensed.
- All required clock hours must be completed onsite as mandated by state law.
- Online or remote instruction does not substitute for required licensing hours unless explicitly authorized by regulation.
