Earning the reduction is designed to align with what a serious student should already be doing: attending, documenting, participating, communicating clearly, and following the school path in writing.
Louisville Beauty Academy (LBA) is a Kentucky state-licensed beauty college, proudly serving thousands of students and graduates who now work, own salons, and contribute $20M–$50M annually to Kentucky’s economy.
We believe beauty education should be accessible, affordable, and lower-debt, preparing students for real employment and career growth—not long-term student loan payments. That’s why LBA has built a unique, cash-based, super-discounted tuition model that is designed as a distinctive affordability-focused model, designed to help students complete their program, earn state licensing, and enter the workforce successfully.
Our Cash-Based, Discounted Tuition Model
Unlike schools that rely on federal loans or high-interest financing, LBA offers a direct-pay model focused on affordability and completion:
- Affordability-Focused Tuition: Programs range from $900 for short specialty certificates up to $6,250.50 for our full 1,500-hour Cosmetology program — a fraction of the cost at many traditional cosmetology schools, where total program costs commonly run into the $10,000–$20,000+ range before financing. (Current tuition for any specific program must be confirmed in current written enrollment documents.)
- Super Discounts Built-In:
- Full payment at enrollment = largest savings
- Full-time attendance = automatic tuition reduction
- Positive behavior, hard work, and professionalism = additional incentives
- No Loans, Written Payment, No Hidden Fees: Payments can be made weekly or monthly, keeping costs predictable and lower-debt.
- Family-Oriented Support: Family members may co-sponsor tuition or co-enroll, making education a shared investment in success.
Our philosophy is simple: Every student should graduate, earn their license, and work in their chosen field—without being burdened by federal loan debt.
Institutional Aid (Offered by LBA)
LBA provides internal financial relief options, designed to reward effort, professionalism, and completion:
- Merit Scholarships: Awarded based on performance, attendance, and skill excellence.
- Need-Based Grants: Limited assistance for students facing financial hardship.
- Earned participation incentives or approved school-assistance opportunities: When available and documented in current written terms, students may reduce part of their balance by completing school-approved participation, documentation, or support activities that align with normal serious student responsibilities.
- Engagement Discounts: Tuition credits for students who actively share their progress and support school promotions.
These incentives recognize students who show discipline, safety, and professional judgment, helping maintain a positive, family-safe, and success-driven environment for all.
External Aid Options (Outside of LBA)
Students may independently explore other funding sources, including:
- Private Scholarships and Grants: Many organizations and nonprofits offer awards to future beauty professionals.
- Employer Tuition Assistance: Some employers reimburse or sponsor training in the beauty field.
- Community and Faith-Based Grants: Local programs may provide small educational stipends.
- Independent Third-Party Scholarships: Students may also research national scholarship programs open to cosmetology and beauty students, such as Beauty Changes Lives and industry-sponsored scholarships (e.g., TIGI, L’Oréal). These are independent organizations, unaffiliated with LBA; eligibility, amounts, and deadlines are set solely by each organization.
- Founder-Affiliated Community Funds: Di Tran, LBA’s founder, has also established separate 501(c)(3) organizations — including New American Business Association and Louisville Fund A Student Foundation — that have historically provided scholarship funding to LBA students and the broader Louisville community. These are separate legal entities from LBA; scholarship decisions, amounts, and availability are made independently by each foundation’s board and are not guaranteed, controlled, or administered by LBA.
Note: LBA assists by providing documentation of enrollment or invoices if required by these providers. However, approval and funding are entirely managed by the external source, not LBA.
Workforce Development Funding (WIOA) — In Development
Current status, stated plainly: Louisville Beauty Academy is evaluating whether to pursue workforce development funding eligibility, including potential alignment with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and related state/local workforce board programs. LBA is not currently listed as an approved WIOA training provider, and no workforce-funding source should be assumed, relied upon, or represented as available until LBA confirms approved status in a current written notice.
- No student should submit a workforce-board application, delay enrollment decisions, or make financial plans assuming WIOA or other workforce funding will apply to their LBA program.
- LBA is not currently able to confirm eligibility, coverage amount, program approval, or processing timelines for any workforce-funding source.
- Students interested in workforce-funded training should contact their local workforce development board directly to ask whether Louisville Beauty Academy programs currently qualify, and should treat that board’s answer — not this page — as authoritative.

Until that written update is published, no statement on this page — past or present — should be read as confirmation of WIOA or workforce-board funding availability.
Federal Aid (Informational Only)
Layering External Aid with Direct-Pay Savings: Some students research federal programs like Pell Grants, Direct Loans, or Work-Study before choosing a school. Louisville Beauty Academy does not participate in Title IV federal financial aid, so these programs cannot be applied to LBA tuition. Instead, LBA’s direct-pay model is structured to be affordable without them: our full program cost is often lower than the out-of-pocket balance a student would owe at a Title IV school even after receiving a Pell Grant. Students who prefer to explore federal aid should compare their total out-of-pocket cost at a Title IV school (tuition minus aid, plus loan interest over time) against LBA’s published direct-pay tuition. For reference, nationwide federal student aid programs include:
- Pell Grants: Federal need-based grants that do not require repayment.
- Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans: Loans requiring repayment with interest.
- Federal Work-Study: Part-time jobs for eligible students to help pay for school.
Important Notice: Louisville Beauty Academy is not a Title IV federal aid participant. We do not process or disburse federal student aid (FAFSA loans or grants). Students wishing to pursue these options must do so independently, understanding that LBA does not handle federal aid paperwork or payments.
Our direct-pay, super-discounted tuition is intentionally designed to make federal loans unnecessary, keeping beauty education affordable, fast, and lower-debt.
Student Responsibility
Students are responsible for:
